The exact origin of the breed is uncertain. The breed might have originated in ancient Greece and France. Bred as hunting dogs, these scenting hounds were used to track rabbit and hare. Nowadays, they are used both as gundogs and family companions. As with all other dog breeds, the temperament of these dogs is predetermined by their major purpose. Scent hounds, they are very energetic, independent, agile, and determined dogs. There are two size varieties of the dogs: 13 inches and 15 inches.
